This 1st PRIMETIME - Watchmaking in the News of the year is a dense one with not only the latest newsworthy stories regarding the watchmaking industry, but we will also come back on some of the main highlights, the most significant new watches, the tops and flops, the main trends and business news of 2019, well a fun recap moment and what can be learned from it. 

In this video, we come back on a young guy we met during one of our last stay in Singapore, Keeran Janin. He recently launched his own watch brand called Avantist and it was a nice opportunity for us to portray what it takes to actually do so; how you fall into it, the different steps, finding the right the partners among other vital things.

It's indeed this time of the year when we come back on some of the most beautiful timepieces we managed to get our hands and eyes on including timepieces from: Patek Philippe, A. Journe, Rolex, Moritz Grossmann, Ferdinand Berthoud, Kari Voutilainen, Charles Frodsham, Greubel Forsey, Andersen Genève, Purnell, Armin Strom, Richard Mille, Hermès, David Rutten, URWERK and a few extra more!

In today's video we come back on a very impressive timepiece seen a bit earlier this year, the full sapphire Bovet Récital 26, knows as the Brainstorm One. We had the great opportunity of filming some behind the scenes of its making and I seriously think that it's just a very sweet and nice way to close up in style our watchmaking coverage of 2019.

We had the great opportunity to be in Singapore to discover the 2019 unique pieces of the bespoke department of Vacheron Constantin called Les Cabinotiers, a name in reference to the various watchmaking workshops historically found in Geneva in the 18th and 19th century.

To finish this year's final Unboxing video series, we decided to go slightly more low key, be a bit more reasonable but nevertheless present a very cool watch with its timeless design and coming at a rather decent price.

When we first heard that Greubel Forsey was about to introduce a sports timepiece, we sincerely thought how on earth will they pull this off!! But at the same time, we knew from experience that they wouldn't take any short cuts and they definitely didn't with the introduction of the GMT Sport.

Today, we have the pleasure to talk about our good friend Max Busser, on MB&F latest release, the Legacy Machine Thunderdome. A timepiece he has been dreaming of since quite a while. As the LM1, LM2 and LM101 the movement was developed in collaboration with Kari Voutilainen and to be able to add a spectacular kind of Gyrotourbillon, MB&F took on board Mr Eric Coudray. The idea of Max for this timepiece was to manage to have the two greatest alive watchmakers working on the same project.

And off we go for another unboxing video, but this time didn't go too crazy in terms of prices, I almost felt almost reasonable but for a timepiece which isn't so reasonable itself, as the case is fully made out of meteorite and limited to 88 pieces.

The Dubai Watch Week is a true benchmark of what a successful and engaging watchmaking event should be like and for its fourth edition the bar was set even higher.

Singapore is naturally an important destination when it comes to high-end watchmaking but strangely enough, we had never been there. So when the occasion presented itself, it didn't take us too long to think about it and off we went and attended Jeweluxe, an event putting forward mainly niche independent watchmakers, many from the AHCI.

This extensive visit of Kari Voutilainen's set up will show you what it takes to produce some 50 timepieces per year with the super high-quality standards of Kari and his team.

What a historic crazy moment we just lived with the shattering record just set for a wrist watch: 31 Million Swiss Francs for the one and only steel Grand Master Chime from Patek Philippe. A record sending a clear message that Patek is in a league of their own and nothing, absolutely nothing comes close to it!!

Results of the GPHG, the main awards ceremony of the watchmaking industry, which just took place in Geneva and celebrated 14 different watches in just as many categories, plus the watch judged best of the best of 2019.

Today no fancy brand, no big name to share with you but nonetheless a very cool timepiece with the lightest mechanical watch produced weighing a mere 16.9 grams built by young French watchmaker named Valentin Remontet.
