Focus On the Slim Perpetual Calendar by Hermès
The new Slim collection by Hermès was one of the major highlights at Baselworld 2015. It was indeed a big surprise to discover a classic new line so well designed and including really appealing details such as the outside of the lugs evoking horse shoes, the specially developed font created by French graphic designer Philippe Apeloig, and even just the watch’s extreme thinness.
The fact that the new Slim d’Hermès collection included a perpetual calendar model was the second great surprise. Firstly, because of its splendid visuals including a special moon phase display at 3 o’clock. Secondly, because it contains a second time zone adjustable using a pusher. This avoids any perturbation in the settings of the perpetual calendar, a significant advantage. Thirdly, and finally, it is an exclusive complication developed for Hermès by Agenhor, the complication specialist who had already invented the mechanism of the Suspended Time model that that won the prestigious men’s watch prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.
We visited Agenhor’s workshop, where we met Laurent Dordet, CEO of La Montre Hermès, and Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, watchmaker and founder of Agenhor, to learn more about this unique perpetual calendar.
