Focus On The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda 1950 Flying Tourbillon
Parmigiani Fleurier just launched an original tourbillon in its Tonda 1950 line. The Tonda 1950 Flying Tourbillon is the brand’s first flying tourbillon, an horological term meaning that the tourbillon is secured to the mechanism on only one side to allow the wearer to view the superlative element without obstruction. What we particularly like about this flying tourbillon is that it is positioned at 7 o’clock on the dial. This unusual place is a smart idea from our point of view as it provides the whole product with more intensity thanks to the masterful disruption in the balance of the design.
Another important feature is the thinness of the caliber, which is only 3.4 mm in height. This was made possible by using a micro rotor instead of a normal rotor to gain space. This makes the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda 1950 Flying Tourbillon really interesting in terms of technique, as micro winding systems are especially difficult to finely adjust. This new model is available in five different versions, including ladies’ watches. Two of the variations particularly caught our attention: one with a dial made out of jade for men, and another with an intense dark blue dial decorated with Geneva stripes.
