Fortis: Created On Earth, This Watch Is Destined To Be On Mars!
From Geneva Watch Days to Mars! This Swiss watch brand, founded in 1912 in Grenchen, has a long history of working with space exploration.
Having already established itself as the timekeeper of choice in the early analogue Mars missions, notably the Mars500 Project in 2007, the new owner of the brand, Jupp Philipp, has set a new ambitious goal - to become the first watch to set time on the Martian surface and accompany the first real mission to Mars. CEO Jupp, who took over Fortis in 2018, shared with us his reasons for reviving the iconic Novonaut AMADEE-24, explained how it was tested under Mars-like conditions on Earth, and revealed why its movement is marked "Space-resistant." Let’s explore the Novonaut AMADEE-24 alongside the four Fortis collections.
