Golden Boy Winchester Clock
A cool table clock by The Unnamed Society in collaboration with L'Épée 1839
The Golden Boy currently being unveiled at the SIAR exhibition held in Mexico. As you can probably guess, it’s inspired by the famous Winchester rifle and it has the same size and weight as this original gun. Yes, it’s indeed quite big and heavy, but it just feels so sturdy and is of course extremely well made.
So apart from its spectacular look, there is one feature that sets it well apart from the Colt we had previously seen and this one changes everything, actually it is mighty cool.
One of the particularity of the Winchester rifle is that you could reload up to 15 shots with the lever found under the trigger and with this clock it mimics this and to fuel up the energy stored in the barrel, you will also use this lever/handle, also up to fifteen times to fully wind it. Once done, this will give you 8 days of power reserve and it’s so playful that the next 8 days may seem long before you can do it again.
To set the time, it is extremely easy and you just turn these two cylinders onto which you will see the hours on one and the minutes on the other. Mechanically speaking you find this multi-level horizontal architecture with first the winding mechanism, then the barrel and then the regular gear train and the balance wheel is set on top of it all and acts as some kind of aiming rifle scope and for info it beats at 2.5 Hz.
There are also personalisation options and from the start you will be able to choose either this silver metallic color, but a golden version also exists, as well as a black PVD version and you can use different type of woods, but I am sure you can go much more crazy if this inspires you.
