Checkmate for Baselworld: Rolex, Patek Philippe and Chopard Pull The Plug

Ok maybe "checkmate" is a bit harsh at this stage but seriously what else could happen as Patek Philippe, Rolex, Tudor, Chopard and Chanel decided to pull out of Baselworld and will most certainly drain a few other major players in their footsteps.

And all this to create a new show in Geneva, which will occur at the same dates as Watches & Wonder in April of 2021 and this represents a life saver for what was known as the SIHH. In all honesty, I strongly believe that without this recent announcement Watches & Wonder was also going to be scrapped and this represents now the perfect opportunity of laying a new concept for watch shows.

Basel has lost it all and I'm not talking only of Baselworld, but the entire ecosystem which gravitated around it, but just proves the limits of greed and short term profit. For an 100-year old event, this is naturally sad, but all was written and I hope that at least some good lessons will be taken our of this mess.
