Blockchain Tech for Watchmaking
With Gvchiani - MasterBlock.
Today I set myself a mission, because I must admit that I always got pretty confused when people explained to me what this blockchain technology is all about it, how it works, and how it can and will impact production, distribution and sales of watches, reduce the risks of fraud and copies among other advantages. So in the video of the day we will exemplify this with a new Geneva brand brand called Gvchiani, who recently introduced the first watch fully certified using this technology.
We had already heard of brands surfing the blockchain marketing wave, but those were all kind of communication gimmicks, but the watch we are talking about now is really the first concrete example. It obviously opens very interesting doors, while we also understand why some are not yet really embracing this as the notion of transparency is not always to the benefit of the various players of the industry. I now strongly believe that a wider adoption of this technology will be driven by consumers, even though it might still take a bit of time and we know that watchmaking has rarely been at the forefront of adopting new technological solutions.
