Fantastic Optical Solutions for Watchmaking from Leica and Hirox
In this video report we come back on two super cool optical solutions recently seen during the EPHJ trade fair held in Geneva. The first one comes from Japan and the Hirox company with an amazing system enabling you to view every detail of your watch in almost any positions and actually scan in 3D what you see. This solution is naturally useful for quality control, in particular in research and development phases as it enables to better understand what could be the causes of friction and tear within a watch movement for instance.
The other solution comes from the super famous German optic manufacturer Leica and they presented a binocular using totally new technology with different stereoscopic lenses and it's your brain that merges the two to create a perfect image to work with. Obviously this solution is also useful for quality control, but even more so for workers and artisans spending almost all their working hours with their eyes riveted to a binocular. The image seen through this binocular is much more natural as depth of field and precision are achieved at the same time in contrast to previous generations of binoculars.
