De Bethune Launches The DB25 World Traveller at SIHH 2016
One facet of De Bethune’s philosophy is often ignored: the comfort in reading, wearing, and setting the brand’s watches. The new DB25 World Traveller launched at SIHH 2016 is a good reminder as this travel watch is super easy to set and use. The DB25 World Traveller displays world time, a second time zone, and a day/night indication with a two-tone revolving microsphere in a concentric way. To make such a legible watch, co-founder and master watchmaker Denis Flageollet and co-founder and curator David Zanetta arranged the different indications using “mysterious” systems for the second time zone and day/night indicator.
While it may look simple, the new DB25 World Traveller hides a lot of complexity, and this makes the watch really super interesting and unique. The new DB2547 caliber contains 430 components! Which is a lot considering the functions it provides. The display systems as well as the usability of the functions increase this number exponentially. One major advantage of the DB25 World Traveller is that all the functions can be set independently. This is a very useful feature for a travel watch, one that has no equivalent on the market at the moment. In addition, all the functions are secured, meaning that it is impossible to break them even though the watch can be set at any time.
Again, De Bethune establishes a benchmark, this time for those who don’t want to be lost in a space-time continuum. You will need about 120,000 Swiss francs for one of the 12 models slated to be produced.
