The Blade Resonator By Dominique Renaud
Just imagine a watch with a virtual component: in the case of the Blade Resonator invented by master watchmaker Dominique Renaud, it is the central axis of the oscillating system that has concretely disappeared. In fact, it has been artificially reproduced by blades positioned linearly and in alternating positions. This construction is maintained by a frame that ensures the perfect alignment of all the blades. This new concept allowed Renaud to extract the escapement from the middle of the oscillating system (balance), which is where it would have been positioned in the common Swiss lever escapement. In addition to reducing friction thanks to the virtual balance staff, this new morphology also creates a system with reduced amplitude. Thus, the system needs much less energy to work and can boast an ultra-long power reserve. Dominique Renaud is now testing and working on creating his first watch with this new blade resonator. The first 12 pieces can now be sold to collectors interested in taking an active part in the project.
