Longines Novelties At Baselworld 2016
Walter Von Kaenel runs Longines with charisma and enthusiasm for dozen of years - and he should have retired for 10 years but is still on board. Longines is one of the strongest watch brand in the world with more than 1,6 billion Swiss francs turnover in 2015 and appreciated on equal proportions by men and women, which is very rare in the industry. Its positioning between 1500 and 3000 Swiss francs makes it one of the best brand in terms of value for money. This year, Longines extends its lady "equestrian" offer with a new rectangular and curved model. Very smooth and delicate, its shape is inspired by the one of a traditional buckle used on harnesses of the single Swiss horses race, the Franches-Montagnes. Longines also introduces a new dial made out of mother of pearl in its famous Grande Classique line. A delicate compass in soft blue or pink on a white background.
The brand is also famous for its rich history that allows it to relaunch regularly revamped historical pieces. Every year the watch passionates wait impatiently for it and the model made especially for the Canadian railroads in 1960 makes a buzz at this fair. The prize matters always but here save 1700.- Swiss francs for it, which is absolutely reasonable.
Walter Von Kaenel placed Longines at the top of the brands in its category. He is also one of rare the CEOS who works for the company for decades, and who still live in the little city of St-Imier where the headquarter stands. Von Kaenel's style, flair and energy are renown so that why we asked him about how connected and traditional watches can cohabite and what they can share, or not.
