New 2017 Timepieces of Bovet 1822
In the above video we go over the 3 main novelties presented by Bovet 1822 early this year.
Miss Dimier Récital 19
The first timepiece is the Miss Dimier Récital 19, a simple and elegant blue dialed oval automatic watch, coming in a 37mm steel case with diamond set bezels. There are two types of finishing on the dial, the center is brushed, whereas the outer portion is lacquered.
Virtuoso VIII
The second watch is the Virtuoso VIII in the Fleurier Grande Complication collection. The first noticeable feature concerns the case, as it takes this asymmetric element previously seen in the Recital 18 Shooting Star. This is naturally quite original and has clearly entered the design code of the brand.
You will find a rather spectacular flying tourbillon with titanium polished bridges sitting at the 6 o’clock mark, as well as a big date seen through this tear shaped dial around the 3 o’clock mark. And as you would expect with Bovet, the finishing is simply astounding with two types of engraving techniques seen on both sides of the timepiece. This watch hold a very comfortable 10-day of power reserve achieved with one single barrel, quite a performance. It comes in two versions, red or white gold, with 3 different types of dials. It is limited to 39 piece each and if you really want it, you can ask for a platinum version.
Récital 20 Astérium
The star of the show this year for Bovet is the Récital 20 Astérium. Following last year’s Récital 18 Shooting Star where we where looking down at the earth, Bovet has inverted the idea and you are now looking directly at the sky.
Nevertheless, it is not a simple redesign, there has been a lot of thinking and extensive development behind this incredible astrological timepiece. We did not go in the all the details in this video and normally reserve this for a dedicated report to be published later this year.
To summarize really shortly its main feature, what you see in the center is as if you were looking up at the sky if you live on the 45° North latitude. This entire sky map turns on itself in an anticlockwise move in a full astral year, meaning in 365.25 days. Going clockwise, you will find a crazy shaped hour hand with an oval opening. This one turns in the regular direction in 24 hours and what you see in the oval is the precise sky map of the stars above you corresponding to that indicated time. Regarding the minute hand, you will find a 60-minute retrograde system at 2 o'clock.
This tourbillon timepiece comes in two versions, either rose or white gold. Bovet will produce 60 movements, so it is not limited by versions, but by the overall amount of movement they will produce.
