Richard Mille introduces the RM 50-03, the lightest Split Second Chronograph ever made
We knew Richard Mille likes light watches and they have already pushed the boundaries of this to some extreme limits, but the brand has done it again with the introduction of the RM 50-03, the lightest split second chronograph ever produced. This watch weighs an incredible mere 40 grams, strap included and the movement itself weighs only 7 grams due to the extensive use of carbon and titanium and extreme skeletonization. The base plate really looks like the chassis of a F1 car and on the dial side you will find two extra indicators, one for the power reserve at 11 o’clock and one torque indicator at 1 o’clock.
For the first time the brand used a new type of ultra resistant material called graphene in the scientific world, but Graph TPT for Richard Mille and it’s more solid but sense dense and helped them achieve this rather crazy performance. The elastic textile strap also hold Graph TPT and McLaren drivers will now wear this watch during Grand Prix. The discovery of this new material earned the scientific team of Manchester University the Nobel Prize of Physics for it, as simple as that!
This watch will be limited to 75 pieces and the first timepieces will hit the market later this fall and naturally it doesn’t come cheap, but that something we are used to with the super luxurious brand.
