Crafting your Leather Strap with Hermès

In this video will not talk about some mechanical aspect of watchmaking, but never the less talk about a rather important feature of your wristwatch: its strap!

You want to know how a leather strap is crafted? Well there's no better place to go than to visit Hermès leather workshop here in Switzerland to discover all the different stages it takes to manufacture by hand a single strap.

This where we met Isabelle Rivière, leather strap workshop manager, who walked us through the entire fabrication process; from leather selection to the various manual steps until the finished strap.

2016 marked the anniversary of a special model for La Montre Hermès as they celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Cape Cop with some pretty cool colors on some extra long bracelets enabling you to have double tour versions around your wrist.

The Cape Cod collection has a very distinctive design clearly reminding us of the horse saddling roots of the brand and though most models have nothing too special in terms of watchmaking stamina, most of them are quartz movement, they are never the less a nice accessory for ladies, though some mechanical versions exists too, even a tourbillon.

This video was shot in Brügg, not far away from Biel, another important watchmaking capital of Switzerland.
