The Reasons Behind The Dubai Watch Week
The Seddiqi family members wanted to establish a benchmark with the Dubai Watch Week and they succeded. The first edition of the event was held in the dynamic emirate from the 18th to the 20th of October. The event made a strong impression.
Indeed, the Seddiqi familiy - one of the most important watch retailer in the world and officially named Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons - organized and funded this whole week with watchmaking classes, panels, talks, conferences, exhibitions and events all only about watchmaking culture. The focus was on independent watchmakers because of their courage and creativity. Hautlence, Bovet, Chopard, H.Moser & Cie, Laurent Ferrier, De Bethune, Cabestan, MB&F, Greubel Forsey, Moritz Grossmann, Christiaan Van Der Klaauw, Lang & Heyne, Urwerk, Peter Speake-Marin, or watchwatchmakers like Giulio Papi, Jean-Marc Wiederrecht or Philippe Dufour were present. For the Seddiqis, culture is fundamental to understand and appreciate. We could just remained stunned by the dimension and positive spirit of the initiative
