The secret behind the successful design of the Tonda 1950 by Parmigiani Fleurier

We believe that there are these well born watches, the ones that immediately have something special and for sure the Tonda 1950 is part of them. This collection is only 3 years old, but this watch feels like it has always existed; it is really well balanced, proposes a simple but beautiful and elegant classic design and just feels like fine watchmaking.

So where does the secret lie? Well find out more with Jean-Marc Jacot, CEO of Parmigiani Fleurier, who explains us the creation process before they ended with the “ultimate” design, the importance of proportions and harmony. For the story, one must not forget that this watch bears an extra thin movement of only 2.6mm and the case could therefore easily be thinner, but that was not the goal of the brand; first aesthetics and balance. The case of this watch is “only” 39mm wide and again it just feels right. So right that the same watch is worn by both men and women and apart from decoration, there are no differences! This makes it a truly unisex watch and just by itself this is a very singular feature and  demonstrates the righteousness of what they have achieved.

And finally, why 1950? Well because it is an hommage to the year of birth of Michel Parmigiani, founder of the eponymous brand, and the inspiration behind this true success.
