Greubel Forsey As Contemporary Art Curator
A few years ago, Greubel Forsey started taking a closer look at the relation between the creative process behind contemporary art and the one behind their vision of watchmaking. On the one hand, this resulted in the Time Art Gallery, a concept where Greubel Forsey was not solely a sponsor of contemporary art exhibitions, but more importantly, the initiator of these exhibitions. On the other, we were introduced to their Art Piece 1 - made in collaboration with the famous micro sculptor Willard Wigan - during the 2013 SIHH. Initially, the Time Art Gallery remained in Shanghai for a couple of years; but today, this concept is heading in a new direction, as an echo to one of the theme of the current exhibition in Paris, namely “Nomadism”. This idea initiated by Robert Filliou, one of the co-founders of the neo dada artistic movement Fluxus in the 60’s, inspired Greubel Forsey in putting together special exhibitions that have the same purpose; i.e. travelling from place to place and offer their “content” to a broader audience than the one already sensitive/fine-tuned to the world of watchmaking. For the show/event currently held in the center of Paris at La Vitrine AM gallery, Greubel Forsey chose to present a very special and unique version of Art Piece 1 - as indeed, it doesn’t show any time at all!!! Find out more with Guillaume Trippet, Creation Manager and Emmanuel Vuille, CEO of Greubel Forsey, what lies behind this new project.
