Introducing: Oris novelties

Watches & Wonders 2023

The Kermit day has come!

Rolf Studer, the Co-CEO of Oris, told us about ProPilot X turning green, the new calibre 400, as well as about the 3D-printed case for ProPilot Altimeter.

It looks like Kermit the Frog from The Muppet Show reflects the very DNA of ORIS - to be easy-going and bring a smile to people's faces because of the joy one has from wearing something not-so-very-conventional on a wrist. The idea of never taking yourself too seriously has found its physical embodiment in the image of Kermit, which appears in the date window at 6 o'clock. According to Rolf, a "Kermit day", when the frog's face pops up, is a reminder for everyone to enjoy life and do something fun, or just pamper themselves. Quite a useful feature in our life-long non-stop achievement race.

Behind the vivid neon green dial in the 39 mm case, however, is hidden a very serious calibre 400. The new series of movements features elevated levels of anti-magnetism, a five-day power reserve, and a 10-year warranty.

The ProPilot Altimeter, on the other hand, marks the new era of 3D carbon-printed cases for ORIS. On a technical side, the range for the altimeter increased from 4000-5000 to 6000 meters. The watch became slimmer, and thanks to the new materials, used in the aerospace domain, the weight of the new timepiece is only 98 grams. On a wrist it feels like a second skin. And the quality of the case is, indeed, of the highest level if you compare it with other carbon models, presented at the Show.

Rolf admitted that thanks to the skills of 9T Labs ORIS is now able to industrialise manufacturing of such cases and use the new technology to produce structural end-use parts at high volumes.

And what do you think about these new timepieces?
