Manufacturing 24 Karat Gold Cogwheels

See this content in the original post

From now on cogwheels made out of 24 karat gold can be implemented in watch movements. Using gold to manufacture gear trains is not recent and Patek Philippe, De Bethune and Kari Voutilainen do or did it. But the smooth composition of gold makes it hard to use and it must be strengthened. Various alloys have been tested but Mimotec worked differently using the LIGA technique that they master for almost 20 years now. Thanks to the process that makes “grow” solid gold into molds using electroplating, the supplier succeeded in manufacturing golden parts in the purest alloy available. Piaget already uses it into its new Emperador Coussin XL 700P model launched in January.
