Rolex New Products At Baselworld 2016

The keen observers know for a while that Rolex introduced new criteria in terms of reliability and performances. The proof is that a green seal is now attached to the majority of the new models, and from now to all of them. Rolex developed its own test protocol that concerns the whole watch, and not only the movement as it was the case until now with the single COSC certification. Speaking about precision for instance, all the watches are certified with a precision that can vary between -2 and +2 seconds maximum per day. And this rule concerns the final product and not only the movement. Another element is that every component is individually tested before being assembled.

Out of this announcement, the main new product is of course the Cosmograph Daytona (11'800.- Swiss Francs) that comes now with a bezel made out of ceramic and in two versions with white or black dial. The fans were waiting for a long time and the reactions are globally very positive. It may be because the density of the black color underlines better than ever the design of the piece. The second main new product is the relaunch of the Air-King (5'900.- Swiss Francs), a watch dedicated to pilots that is now available with a totally new design, which main feature is to include 2 digits numbers, and with a big diameter of 40 mm instead of the previous 36mm.

The third one is the adaptation of the Explorer (6'200.- Swiss Francs) that comes with number filled with luminescent material and longer hands – a weakness many aficionados had critics about. Finally, the fourth main watch launched is the Date Just with the new 3235 movement. This caliber is an evolution of the 3255 one introduced last year in the Day Date collection and that is in particular protected by 14 patents.

Among the numerous other new products, we particularly appreciated a full “cognac” color version of a Dual Time Cellini with its case made out of Rolesor, the pink gold developed by Rolex. The Rolesor was also quite visible on other models such as the Yacht Master launched for the first time with a bezel and a bi-color explorer bracelet made out of this alloy.
