The Rich History of Ferdinand Berthoud

See this content in the original post

Today we will talk a little bit about watchmaking history and introduce to you Ferdinand Berthoud, a genius of its time and part of that little club of illustrious watchmakers of the late 18th, early 19th century, such as Breguet and Harrison.

We do so because this name has been brought back to life and the eponym brand has recently introduced a rather impressive timepiece inspired by marine chronometers and their characteristic "fusée chaine" mechanism. This watch is the FB1, a tourbillon watch and the movement is simply gorgeous to look at. But before getting there, we thought it would be useful to place back in history who was this great man who from the start wanted to share his watchmaking knowledge and influenced others.
