Jaeger-LeCoultre Reinvents Its Reverso Collection at the 2016 SIHH

The mythical Reverso collection from Jaeger-LeCoultre was entirely reshaped for the 85th anniversary of its introduction in 1931. The rectangular watch swivels thanks to a dedicated system within the case; this is one of the very rare models accepted and worn equally by women and men. For the SIHH 2016, Jaeger-LeCoultre worked mainly on developing dedicated automatic movements for the Reverso cases in addition to various sizes and a new category for women.

The Reverso Classic line is the purest one with cases offering a “virgin” case back perfect for custom engravings. It is also available in three sizes: S, M, and L – gender doesn’t matter anymore here. The oscillating mass of a new automatic movement developed specifically for this watch makes its revolutions inside the case. The Reverso Classic Large Duoface in particular offers a second time zone on the back of the case. In the center, the oscillating mass of the automatic caliber is also discreetly visible.

The Reverso Classic Duetto – available in S and M only – is also a double display model, but the “verso” here is also set with diamonds for ladies who want to switch to a more distinguished look at night. One important thing: the same time is displayed on each face.

Finally, a reengineered version of the Gyrotourbillon is introduced in a Reverso case. It is more compact, looking as if the spherical cage of the tourbillon is floating in weightlessness – and announcing what the next highly complex Reversos will look like. In conclusion, we can say that Jaeger-LeCoultre took advantage of the Reverso anniversary to rethink in depth how a watch collection should answer the expectations of today’s customers. Gender disappears, to be replaced by a commonly used international size system. And the technicality of the movements has also increased with more useful solutions for the user, starting with the automatic winding.
