What To Think Of Watches And Design – Design Saga 5

See this content in the original post

To conclude this saga on design, we wanted to share what matters for uswhen speaking about the topic as it pertains to watchmaking. We mustfirst remember that design is not more than 50 years old; previously,  the shape of watches chiefly depended on technical necessities. Then,  mainly thanks to improvements in manufacturing tools, design became moreand more present, bringing new shapes with it. Brands could expresscreativity as never before. And that is why since 2000 in particular,  innovation in shapes, forms, and colors became the base for several newbrands such as MB&F, Greubel Forsey, and De Bethune. But design alsohas the power to bring forth special and even audacious pieces. A goodexample of that is the Big Bang All Black from Hublot which isintegrally…black. We respect and appreciate the trials and tests thatare made using design in watchmaking, but what matters most is that thewatch remain harmonious, legible, and comfortable. But most importantly,  it must create desire. As a watch is a “love machine” too, youmust feel an uncontrollable desire to put it on your wrist. THIS is themain criterion. Watch the video here!
